Romanesco - Brassica oleracea var. italica A unique type. Large compact cauliflower-type plant bears beautiful spiraling apple-green heads up to 6”. Extremely soft texture and magnificent flavor. January King - rassica oleracea var. capitata (<1885) Famous winter cabbage and one of the hardiest. Solid, flat light green heads weigh 3-5 lbs. Bronze Arrow - Lactuca sativa A rare, long-standing heirloom leaf lettuce that has it all. We feel it is one of the best lettuces in the world. Will stay fresh and tasty at marketable size for about three weeks even in hot weather. Overwintered through a snowy winter in Willits (zone 8). Can be grown as a cut and come again variety. One of our gardeners took seven heads off each of her plants one summer. Oak-leaf shaped, bronze-red leaves are tops for appearance and sweet flavor. 300 seeds. Mache or Vert de cambrai - Valerianella locusta Also known as Rapunzel. Small Dark-green leaves have a mild flavor and delicate texture. Hardy to 0 degrees but doesn’t like heat. Sown in Autumn to stand the Winter. Whole plants are harvested for salad greens. Very high in vitamin C. Grows like spinach (except hardier). 200 seeds.
Monstrueux of Viroflay - Spinacia oleracea Plants up to 2 feet in diameter. One of the largest, most vigorous varieties, and early. Large dark-green crisp leaves, slightly savoyed. Flavorful, tender and succulent even when large. Low acid. Good winter variety. Giant Winter - Spinacia oleracea A cold-hardy variety with large lance shaped semi-savoyed medium green leaves. Excellent to seed in fall for a crop in early spring; also can be planted in spring. 100 seedsTURNIPS Orange Jelly - Brassica rapa (Golden Ball) A hardy maincrop and good to store for winter use. Alternatively, it can be sown late in the season (say in August) and left in the ground to produce “Winter Greens”.
