GG is an organization that supports urban gardening, and self-sufficiency through sustainable city plots. We are a membership-sponsored not-for-profit guild that has been working to get more Americans growing food in their backyards, making a move to smarter economies and a real community.
A HEALTHY HABITAT ISN'T AN OVERNIGHT PROCESS, BUT THE POSITIVE RETURNS CAN BE FELT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. CHOOSE A STARTING POINT AND GO!
STEP ONE: where to start?
to get on the road to a healthier habitat, which will benefit many in your environment, begin with an action that is interesting to you! No matter your interest, there is a way to make a better world around you. A healthier habitat is created from healthy habitats. Change doesn't have to be painful. Change is easier too if you choose what works for you.
Walk. Free and sharpens the skills of observation. Good for cardio health. Reduces depression,
energy use and weight gain!
No strict plan or scheduling needed.
Learn about wildlife gardens and make a plan to add a few elements that help flora.
Grow a winter garden with nutrient-rich greens for better health.
Cook more at home and use healthier options. Get in touch with better food.
Use one new ingredient that can be purchased from a local producer.
Find the space and plan for your new spring garden.
Reduce your use by simplifying. Removing the unnecessary
Reduce your waste by reusing or recycling.
STEP TWO: start to make that change.
Follow your inspiration. Take two weeks, and commit to your new, good habit.
Mark it on the calendar, two weeks from your start, and give it your best shot.
STEP THREE:
what next?
if you have encountered obstacles or road blocks, now is the time to tweak your a technique. Whether it is recycling or renovating your daily diet, you've started in a good place! How about ,
you've started in a good place.
STEP FOUR: how did that go?
evaluate if the change has made a difference in how you feel. Some things would take longer for dramatic results, but two weeks in earnest will tell you something. Don't let frustration get in the way. Set your own bar. Be passionate about going at your own pace.
STEP FIVE: continue on or try something new?
this step is easy. only decide if you will continue with your current strategy to improve your habitat...
if so, fantastic! hold to your path and don't overdo it.
if not, start again with STEP 1.
Repeat until you've found change YOU believe in.
