drip irrigation
one solution for conserving in arid climates
There are many ways to water gardens, and an appropriate method is chosen based on availability of a water source followed by the specific needs of your plant varieties. The end goal when selecting the best method of watering is reducing evaporation and other water loss while supporting the plant needs.
drip irrigation 101
from GG offers a quick overview.

Albuquerque Water Authority
things to remember:
drip irrigation requires regular maintenance
hard water, like we have in Albuquerque, creates a build up on parts
most parts are relatively inexpensive, as drip is very affordable
irrigation parts are chosen based on the water requirement of the plants
too much water can be a problem for low water varieties
